Travel options

1. Taxi:

  • Inside the airport (take your left as you come out of the customs area), you will find two companies providing private taxi services. The price range is Euro 30-40 to get to the center of Vienna.
  • Outside the airport, the usual taxis are available. The price is dependent on mileage, but on average Euro 40 is charged.
  • Alternatively, you could book in advance private taxi service through: a) transfers bit.ly/2CWSw9C , b) willtaxi, www.willtaxi.at/de/flughafentaxi-wien/ . They are efficient but cheaper. You will have to fill in the online form (which you can access also via your phone).

A driver with your name will be awaiting at the airport. Such taxi drivers are lined up on the right side within the airport as you come out of customs area. But do provide your phone number on the form, the driver may wish to call you.

2. Train: Alternatively you can use the fast train CAT (City Airport Train), it takes less than 15 minutes to get to Wien Mitte. The cost is Euro 11 one way, or Euro 19 return ticket. Please note, you will have to make your way from Wien Mitte to your selected hotel from our list. Taxis are available at Wien Mitte, or you can use the Underground train. For more information please see the webpage https://www.cityairporttrain.com/en/home To get around Vienna by public transportation, we recommend the following webpage https://www.wienerlinien.at

3. Bus: Bus services are available to and from Airport, please see details on the webpage, www.flughafenbus.wien/en

4. S-Bahn and U-Bahn: The cheapest way (approx. 4 euro) to get from the aiport to the university is by taking the S7 in the direction of Floridsdorf and change on station Praterstern to the metroline U2 in the direction of Karlsplatz. Get off at station Schottentor (not to be confused with Schottenring), and from there it is a 5-min walk to the conference venue. The location of Schottentor and the conference venue are indicated on the map below.

To reach the city centre, rather than the university, simply get off at Wien Mitte rather than Praterstern. From there, there are connections to many different parts of Vienna. See https://www.wienerlinien.at for more information, or download the free app Qando.
